It has been reported in recent press, that there is a definite increase in keen sailors of catamarans looking to the thriving industry of yacht charter in Thailand, to invest both financially, and as a lifestyle choice.

Over the last few years Thailand has become one of the world’s most popular choices for a yacht charter holiday, and unsurprisingly to, as there are so many spectacular sights to see and cruise around. From Phang Nga Bay and Krabi with their amazing limestone rock formations to the Phi-Phi Islands and the stunning white sandy beaches and crystal clear seas for some breathtaking snorkelling.

It is no wonder that our cruising areas around Thailand have created such a positive and sound yacht charter industry, and that people wishing to invest in yacht ownership are recognising the benefits of placing their catamarans with yacht charter companies in order that they can enjoy the income earned on their catamaran whilst not using it themselves.

Often in yacht charter management agreements, the operating costs can be offset against the income earned, so it is an ideal solution for a keen catamaran sailor, who wants the option to be able to own and holiday aboard their own catamaran here in Thailand or Malaysia, but does not have the time or inclination to maintain it throughout the year.

According to Multihull Solutions, a market leader in providing expert advice and support for clients who are interested in yacht charter investment; who also have an office in Phuket for their Southeast Asian division, they are “enjoying a Thailand surge in new and pre-owned boat sales, with several buyers choosing to place their catamaran in the region’s charter companies for investment purposes.”

Catamarans will always be a popular choice for yacht charter holidays, as they offer such a large amount of comfortable and spacious living area, both internally and on the decks. They are also brilliantly manoeuvrable with nice shallow drafts, which means they can better access many of the beaches and anchorages in this superb sailing area.

There are many other benefits for investing in yacht charter in Thailand, and placing your catamaran with a yacht charter company, such as Simpson Yacht Charter, including;

  • A stress-free yacht ownership – so you own the boat, but not the stress that goes with it, like yacht maintenance, cleaning, out of season care programmes etc…
  • Knowing that you have guaranteed revenue for the times that you are not using your yacht.
  • You also can negotiate the freedom to use your yacht when you want to!
  • Another bonus is that you don’t have to manage the charters that are on board your catamaran, the charter company will do all the preparation, communication and paperwork relating to the charters booked on your yacht, and report back to you, normally monthly, of the status of your charter bookings.
  • All the promotion and advertising and sales of your catamaran for charter bookings is taken care of for you.
  • Relax knowing that the bookings on your yacht will be given an excellent turnaround service at the beginning and the end of each charter, which will include a full briefing before they head out on charter, safety and operational notes, all contributes to the charterers taking responsibility and looking after your boat on their charter holiday.
  • You also have have the comfort and reassurance of knowing that you have a reliable operator backing you up and looking after your yacht on a day to day basis on the ground, whereas perhaps you are unable to have that control from far away.

So based on all that, it really does make sense if you have some spare cash or have always hankered after owning your own catamaran in an exotic location, why it makes sense to invest in yacht charter in Thailand!
