Launched in 2014, the Mantamae is a 31-meter Phinisi ironwood schooner. No ordinary luxury yacht, it’s for the spirited few with a song in their heart, a curious mind, and a passion for cruising some of the most extraordinary places on the planet. With its two masts, elegant bowsprit and seven-sail rigging, the Mantamae evokes the romance of a bygone age, where Bugis and Makassan seafarers plied the shallow waters of the ‘East Indies’ on traditional Phinisi vessels laden with valuable spices.

Mantamae is the perfect fusion of the authenticity and charm of a traditional Indonesian two-masted Phinisi with contemporary concepts in yacht design and technology.

Complementing its glorious Phinisi-style design aesthetic are all the facilities and features expected of a 21st-Century luxury yacht, including high-spec communications systems, state-of-the-art diving and water-sports equipment, and international safety systems.

MantaMae’s crew comprises experiences Indonesian professionals led by an highly competent captain and cruise director.

Indonesia’s eastern archipelago is renowned for its spectacular marine bio-diversity, and the most sought-after, species-rich dive spots on the planet, the Coral Triangle. Mantamae is fully equipped for scuba diving, with dedicated RIB dive tenders, compressors, Nitrox, tanks, and a full set of gear for each guest – wetsuit, BCD, fins, mask, snorkel, weight belt. Our cruise director knows the waters intimately and takes pleasure in guiding guests to his favourite, little known and newly discovered sites.
Whether your interest is culture, history, ecology or wildlife, Indonesia’s eastern archipelago presents an amazing range of land-based experienced, including those only reached by sea. Meet colourful tribes in Papua, traditional weaving villages in Flores, and the famed whale hunters of Alor. Visit historic forts, colonial landmarks and pearl farms in the Bandas. Spot Birds of Paradise, Hornbills and Flying Foxes in Raja Ampat, and get close to the pre-historic dragons of Komodo.
The sound of softly crashing waves, gently blowing breezes, and the supportive feel of soft sand underneath make for a very special atmosphere for romance.
There’s nothing like the sea are to sharpen appetites on board. Our  Indonesian gourmet chef takes great pride in sourcing the freshest ingredients from high-quality Indonesian suppliers, local markets and fishermen delivering a splendid fusion of Asian and Italian cuisine. Three times a day he will create hearty meals that will be served family style on the foredeck dining table.
Whether it be the spectacular backdrop of lush palm trees blowing in the cool breeze, or the crashing waves of the turquoise waters of the Coral Triangle the natural beauty and white sand beaches that surround you are an invitation to relax and recharge your batteries with yoga, meditation and massage. Let us know your desires and we’ll put them into action.

Diving

Indonesia’s eastern archipelago is renowned for its spectacular marine bio-diversity, and the most sought-after, species-rich dive spots on the planet. Mantamae is fully equipped for scuba diving, with dedicated RIB dive tenders, compressors, Nitrox, tanks, and a full set of gear for each guest – wetsuit, BCD, fins, mask, snorkel, weight belt. Our Cruise Director knows the waters intimately and takes pleasure in guiding guests to his favourite, little known or newly discovered sites. A highly experienced dive instructor, he leads divers of all levels from beginners to advanced, and can also arrange PADI instruction and certification if required.

He will organize the diving operations in groups of up to five divers per guide, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that our guests experience the best possible dive. Before each dive he’ll give a full briefing covering dive type, suggested depths and likely marine life along with other relevant site information. Every day, we will offer as many dives as is safely possible within standard no-decompression limits – typically one or two morning dives, an afternoon dive and a dive at dusk or night.

Mantamae carries 30 tanks on board. The majority are 11.2 liter (80’s) aluminium cylinders, designated for use with either air or nitrox 32. (Nitrox cylinders are tagged to differentiate them from our air cylinder, which have no markings.) We also have a limited supply of larger 15 liter (100’s) cylinders.

With many dive sites ideal for beginners, Indonesia is also a great destination to learn to dive. So where better to improve your scuba skills than here, the most diverse waters on the planet? The Mantamae professional and experienced instructors and guides will follow you in this experience.
