This eastern cost of Thailand is filled with wonderful islands suitable for exploration. Consider Ko Samae San, an island consisting of five beaches all perfect for an afternoon of frolicking under the sun. For the more adventurous, enjoy swimming and diving at Haad Tien and Luk Lom beach. Haad Tien is the beach where the harbour is located, while Luk Lom beach is on the other side of the island. Luk Lom is the island’s most beautiful beach filled with white sand and clear blue waters. A viewpoint that overlooks the sea is an experience we would highly recommend to all who visit.

T-shaped Ko Samet is famous for its white sandy beaches, exotic coral and crystal-clear waters. Ko Chang is Thailand’s second largest island, and the biggest in Eastern Thailand. With about 5,000 permanent residents the island is not heavily populated. Ko Chang has attracted an increased number of tourists over the last few years, all of whom have been charmed by the beauty of the island.

There are several islands surrounding Ko Chang that are equally worth a visit. Go beyond Ko Chang and explore the unspoiled landscapes of the peaceful islands of Ko Mak, Ko Kood and Ko Laoya. These three islands boast world-class shallow-water reefs that are considered some of the most preserved and beautiful in the world. Enjoy a wide variety of activities like diving, snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding, and even cycling.  The Trat province itself also features many fine attractions like beaches, mangroves, waterfalls, fishing villages, and houses on stilts, as well as wonderful markets selling the freshest of sea food caught within a few kilometres of the shore.

Thanks to much of the region being under the care of the Royal Thai Navy, beaches like Hat Nang Rum and Hat Nam Sai have remained free from development, with the latter only recently opening to the public. True to its name, which translates to clear water, on Hat Nam Sai beachgoers will discover a flat beach stretching about one kilometre towards the sea, while small reefs on the southern end are perfect for snorkelling. Enriching marine life completes the picture.

Only 3 kilometres down from Pattaya Beach, Jomthien is highly recommended to those who seek a quieter and more relaxing experience. Once paddy fields, Jomthien is now a thriving beach. Popular with windsurfers and water sports enthusiasts, this beach is suitable for the young and young at heart.
